Getting the ticket and going to court

In a case that you get a ticket:

1. Don’t get in a huge fit and through the ticket on the floor. Just take the ticket and go. Officers will remember better the bigger you make it. In many situations in court, the officer says, “I have no recollection of this date”.

2. The more you can recall about the situation, the better it looks. If you can remember what you were doing, where you where going, what the traffic was like, if it was rainy or not, were you were on the freeway, it puts an appearance on that you are someone you sincerely didn’t do anything and are here because you know you didn’t and you remember that.

Going to court:

Once you receive your court date, try to put it off, the less a cop remembers the better. 90% of the time a cop doesn’t even show up. They can give more tickets being out on the roads then in court for 1 or 2 people.

A day at the court:

Once you get to court, there is not much you need to do but sit around until your case is called.

1.      First things first, check with the clerk or who ever is at the entrance to the court just to make sure you are in the right place. Show them your papers put on a smile and that’s the last time you see them before you leave.

2.      Take a seat in the court wait until the whole thing is explained usually by an audio recording or an officer. Many times they will say “who ever wants to plead guilty do so now so we can put you at the top of the stack”, that’s a way to trick many people of pleading guilty before they know if the officer is there or not. Never plead guilty, you have nothing to lose your already there.

3.      Wait until your case is called. In many situations but not always, they call up a group of people whose officers aren’t there. Sometimes even if your name isn’t called in that group your officer isn’t there.

4.      Once your case is called, the officer will testify on his behalf, then you on your behalf. It helps if you bring someone sitting in the car at the time of the incident. That way both of you is giving story.

5.      Then there’s the closing statements and the judge decides. Remember stick with your case tell all the facts use all that you can remember.
